A Bit About Me
Chris Hidalgo is a former Central Islip High School student and is currently pursuing his studies at Stony Brook University in Mathematics and Studio Art with plans on becoming a teacher. He is the first Central Islip student awarded the prestigious Gates Scholarship, which covers all his college expenses, including tuition, room and board, transportation, and books. Chris is one of only 750 students selected nationwide from a pool of 53,000 applicants for this honor. Through his academic and extracurricular accomplishments, he is also recognized as an HSF Scholar.
Throughout his experiences in High School, like being president of the Newspaper, Treasurer of the Senior Class of 2024, corresponding secretary of the National Honor Society, and lead artist in the Mural of CI, Chris’s adoration for CI grew. Chris has even started his own mentorship services for high school students, CI College, Career, and Beyond, assisting in the college application process and gaining job positions.
Chris’s dedication to his Central Islip and the growth of others has always motivated him to strive to do new things to represent and inspire his community. Through his leadership, he is hoping to bring new life and growth to CI.
